iPhone 18: release date, price and everything we know so far
For the first time in years, "iPhone 18" doesn't mean one launch — it means two. Apple is reportedly splitting its lineup for 2026, with the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max landing in September alongside the company's first foldable phone, while the standard iPhone 18 gets held back until spring 2027. If you've been searching for a straight answer on when your next iPhone is actually arriving, that's the headline to know before anything else. None of this is official yet — Apple stays quiet until its keynote — but the supply chain has been unusually chatty this year, and several details have now been repeated by enough independent, reliable sources to treat them as more than guesswork. Here's everything we know so far, and what it means if you're planning to upgrade. If you're holding onto an older iPhone in the meantime, it's worth keeping it protected — browse our iPhone cases and accessories while you decide what's next. When is the iPhone 18 actually coming out? This is the part that's tripping people up, so let's deal with it first. Apple has reportedly abandoned the idea of launching every iPhone model on the same day: September 2026: iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and Apple's first foldable iPhone (widely referred to as the "iPhone Fold" or "iPhone Ultra") Spring 2027: the standard iPhone 18, a budget iPhone 18e, and possibly a second-generation iPhone Air The reasoning, according to supply chain reports, comes down to components. The Pro models and the foldable both rely on Apple's new 2-nanometre chip and higher RAM allocations, both of which are in short supply. Splitting the launch lets Apple prioritise its most expensive, highest-margin phones for the busy autumn shopping season, then give the more affordable models their own moment in the spring. The keynote itself is widely tipped for Wednesday, 9 September 2026, with pre-orders opening a few days later and phones on shelves by around 18 September. Apple hasn't confirmed a date, but that timing lines up with the company's usual pattern of announcing on the Tuesday or Wednesday after the US Labor Day weekend. Design and colours Don't expect a dramatic redesign. The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max are expected to keep the general look Apple introduced with the iPhone 17 Pro, including the wide camera plateau across the top of the back panel. The most talked-about change is smaller and subtler: Apple is reportedly moving the Face ID flood illuminator underneath the display, which several supply chain sources say could shrink the Dynamic Island noticeably. It's worth being clear that this isn't full under-display Face ID — you'll still see a small camera cutout — with a completely invisible Face ID system reportedly pushed back to 2027. On colours, the most consistent rumour points to a new "Dark Cherry" finish — described as a deep reddish-purple rather than a true red — becoming the standout shade for 2026, alongside Light Blue, Dark Gray and Silver. Cosmic Orange and Deep Blue are both expected to be retired. Whatever finish you end up with, you'll probably want to keep it looking that way. We'll be stocking a full range of iPhone 18 Pro cases as soon as the phone is official. The camera: variable aperture finally arrives The single biggest camera rumour has been circulating for over a year, and it's finally expected to land: a mechanical variable aperture on the 48MP main camera. Every iPhone since the 14 Pro has used a fixed f/1.78 aperture. A variable aperture would let the lens physically open and close, giving photographers genuine control over depth of field and exposure instead of relying entirely on software-driven Portrait Mode. Reports differ on whether this arrives across the whole Pro range or is exclusive to the Pro Max, so treat that detail as unconfirmed. Alongside it, at least one Pro model is rumoured to gain a new three-layer stacked image sensor, which should mean better dynamic range and less noise in low light. The rest of the triple-camera system — a 48MP ultra-wide and a 48MP periscope telephoto — is expected to continue largely unchanged from the iPhone 17 Pro. Performance and connectivity Under the hood, the headline is the A20 Pro, expected to be Apple's first chip built on TSMC's 2-nanometre (N2) process. Early estimates suggest something in the region of a 15–18% performance jump over the A19 Pro, alongside meaningfully better power efficiency — though as always, take exact percentages with a pinch of salt until independent benchmarks exist. The more interesting change might be connectivity. Apple is reportedly moving the Pro models onto its own in-house C2 modem, continuing the shift away from Qualcomm that started with the iPhone 16e. Alongside standard 5G, the C2 is rumoured to support satellite-based connectivity for browsing and messaging when you've got no signal at all — a genuinely useful upgrade for anyone who's ever lost coverage on a train or in the countryside. A next-generation N2 wireless chip is also expected, succeeding this year's N1 and bringing Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth improvements with it. Battery life Details are still thin here, but the direction of travel is clear: bigger. The iPhone 18 Pro Max's battery is rumoured to land somewhere north of 5,000mAh, which would make it the largest Apple has ever fitted into an iPhone. Combined with the efficiency gains from a 2nm chip, that points to a genuinely useful improvement in real-world battery life rather than just a bigger number on a spec sheet — though nothing here is confirmed until Apple publishes its own figures. Apple's first foldable iPhone It's not one of the three phones you're here to read about, but it's worth knowing it's launching alongside them. Apple is widely expected to unveil its first foldable iPhone in September, likely as a book-style device with a roughly 7.8-inch inner display and a hinge engineered to minimise the visible crease. Pricing rumours have been unusually consistent for over a year, pointing to a starting price north of $2,000. If you're weighing up whether to wait for it instead of the Pro Max, know that most reports suggest a simpler two-camera system and no traditional Face ID, so it's shaping up as a different kind of device rather than a straight upgrade. How much will the iPhone 18 Pro cost? Nothing is confirmed, and estimates vary more here than anywhere else. Rising memory and chip costs have several analysts predicting a price increase of somewhere between £100 and £200 in the UK, which would put the 256GB iPhone 18 Pro somewhere in the region of £1,199–£1,299, up from £1,099 for the equivalent iPhone 17 Pro. Apple's own CEO has said publicly that some price increases are "unavoidable," though he stopped short of confirming which models or by how much. Whatever the final number, expect the Pro Max to sit a step above the Pro, as it always does. What about the "standard" iPhone 18? If you were hoping to pick up a regular iPhone 18 this September, the current rumours say you'll be waiting until spring 2027 instead, alongside a new budget iPhone 18e and possibly a second-generation iPhone Air. Because these models are so far out, reliable detail is thin — expect a similar screen size to this year's iPhone 17 (around 6.3 inches) and a version of the same A20 chip, without the "Pro" branding or its extra camera hardware. It's a longer wait than usual if the standard model is your usual upgrade, but it does mean you've got more time to plan. We'll have iPhone 18 Pro Max cases ready well ahead of its eventual release. Should you wait, or buy now? If you want the newest hardware and don't mind paying Pro pricing, waiting the few weeks until September makes sense. If you're after better value, the bigger saving is usually on the outgoing model rather than the new one — new iPhones essentially never discount in their first couple of months, but the phone they replace typically does, most sharply in the two to three weeks right after launch, with a second dip around Black Friday. In other words, an iPhone 17 Pro bought in late September could be a smarter buy than most people assume. Either way, it's worth having a case ready from day one — a drop in the first week is a genuinely common way for a brand-new phone to pick up its first scratch. Quick questions, answered Is the iPhone 18 launching in September 2026? Only the Pro and Pro Max are. The standard iPhone 18 is rumoured to arrive separately in spring 2027. What's the biggest new feature on the iPhone 18 Pro? Most reports point to the variable aperture camera as the standout hardware change, alongside the new A20 Pro chip and a shift to Apple's own C2 modem. Will the iPhone 18 Pro get more expensive? Rumours point to a rise of roughly £100–£200 in the UK, though Apple hasn't confirmed any pricing. Should I buy an iPhone 17 Pro instead? If budget matters more than having the newest chip, waiting for post-launch discounts on the iPhone 17 Pro is a solid option worth considering. Final thoughts This is the most unusual iPhone launch Apple has run in years, and a lot of the detail above will keep shifting right up until the keynote — we'll update this page as new information lands. For now, the safest bet is this: if you're eyeing a Pro model, September is real and it's close. If you were hoping for a standard iPhone 18, you've got a longer wait ahead than usual. Whichever iPhone you're planning around, we'll have you covered from day one — take a look at our full range of iPhone cases, screen protectors and accessories to be ready as soon as it's in your hands.
Read moreWhich power bank should I choose?
If you’re thinking about buying your first power bank, or if you’ve had one previously and are now wondering which the best power bank is, then you should know that there are a lot of things to consider before making your decision. What differentiates the different power banks can come down to their functionalities, how much charge they hold, and their size - and we have therefore put together a brief yet comprehensive guide that will help you make a decision, and keep you informed as a customer. Our goal is to help you navigate all the options and technical terms so that you can truly find exactly what you are looking for. Check out our collection of power banks. What is a power bank? Let’s start with a basic - which is what a power bank actually is. If you want to put it as simply as possible then it is a battery. If you want to go into a little more detail then a power bank is a portable battery device that allows you to charge your devices (such as your smartphone, smartwatch, tablet, headphones, or e-reader) when you don’t have access to a wall outlet. It therefore works like a backup electrical source that you can bring with you, storing energy that can be transferred to your devices via USB cable. They come in different sizes and capacities, ranging from small pocket-sized chargers that can recharge your phone once to larger models that can charge multiple devices at the same time, and several times over. 3 important things to consider when choosing a power bank As we stated previously, there are several things to consider when you are buying a power bank, and they all come down to what you are looking to get out of your purchase. For instance, maybe you just need something small and easy that you can keep in your bag for an emergency, or you need something more substantial to charge all of your devices when traveling or camping. Based on our experience, however, it mostly boils down to three main considerations: Battery capacity: When buying a power bank, battery capacity is a crucial factor to consider. The capacity, measured in milliampere-hours (abbreviated to mAh), determines how much charge the power bank can store. We always advise our customers to choose a power bank with a capacity higher than the battery capacity of the device its meant to charge. So, as an example: if your smartphone has a 3,000mAh battery, then that means a 20,000mAh power bank can charge it approximately 6 times. Amount of ports: Consider the number of devices you need to charge simultaneously. Power banks with multiple USB ports allow charging several devices at once, such as a smartphone and a tablet or multiple smartphones, providing convenient and flexible charging options. Functionality: When considering functionality in a power bank, decide between wired or wireless charging based on your needs. Wired power banks are faster and more efficient, while wireless models offer convenience by eliminating cables but charge slower. Additionally, consider the physical size—smaller power banks are lighter and more portable, while larger ones provide higher capacity but may be bulkier to carry. Different kinds of power banks at Lux-Case In our selection, you’ll find a wide range of different power banks - but what does that mean, and what sets them apart? The answer to that is that it comes down to a lot of different things, such as the amount of power it holds, what special functions it provides as well as its physical size and dimensions. To make it as easy as possible, we have divided it into three separate categories, based on what we know our customers consider important. Power banks with wireless charging Wireless power banks offer convenient, cable-free charging for compatible devices. They work through electromagnetic induction, using coils to generate a magnetic field that transfers energy to the device. The main benefits include portability, reduced wear on the device ports, and compatibility across multiple Qi and MagSafe-enabled devices. We would be remiss to not highlight the fact that compatibility with wireless charging is key, and if your device does not support the wireless charging Qi standard then the power bank will not work. Take a closer look at our most popular wireless power bank. Power banks with wired charging Wired power banks store electrical energy in an internal battery and transfer it to devices via USB cables, exactly in the same way as when you plug it into the wall at home. They offer several key benefits: faster charging speeds compared to wireless alternatives, efficient power distribution, and broad device compatibility. Most wired power banks feature multiple charging ports, allowing simultaneous charging of several devices. Additionally, they typically have higher battery capacities ranging from 10,000mAh to 30,000mAh, making them ideal for extended use. Additionally, wired power banks are generally more affordable and provide a direct, stable power connection that ensures quick and reliable charging for smartphones, tablets, and other electronic devices Our most powerful power bank with wired charging. Pocket-friendly power banks For a lot of people, the power bank must be as portable as the device it is intended to charge. This of course makes sense, since you might not want to have to bring a bag or have the bag you’re already bringing be weighed down, just for the convenience of being able to charge your smartphone or smartwatch while on the go. This is where a smaller, more pocket-sized power bank comes into the picture. The con of these products is that the smaller size means that they can only carry a reduced charge, but for many the convenience of being able to keep it in your pocket outweighs the cons. A small but incredibly useful smaller power bank. FAQ What devices can I use a power bank for? Power banks can charge a wide range of electronic devices, including smartphones, tablets, portable game consoles, wireless earbuds, smartwatches, and other USB-powered gadgets. They're versatile portable chargers that provide emergency power when you're away from electrical outlets, ensuring your devices stay charged during travel, work, or leisure activities. Can I bring a power bank on a plane? Yes, you can bring a power bank on a plane, but it must be in your carry-on baggage. Most airlines allow power banks up to 100 watt-hours, equivalent to approximately 27,000mAh. However, to be sure, we recommend that you always check your airline's specific regulations to ensure compliance and safety. How many times can a power bank charge my device? This is a good question and comes down to how much charge the power bank itself holds. As a rule of thumb, which might seem obvious, the higher mAh the power bank has, the more charges it also holds. However, this is also highly dependent on the size of the battery in your device, which can vary heavily from model to model. When it comes to the options in our selection, then you can consult the following to get an overview of what each mAh means: 5000mAh: A power bank with 5000mAh allows you to charge your phone 1 - 2 times, your smartwatch 10 - 15 times and will take most tablets up to a 50% charge. 10000mAh: A power bank with 10000mAh allows you to charge your phone 2 - 4 times, your smartwatch 20 - 40 times and your tablet once. 20000mAh: A power bank with 20000mAh means being able to charge your phone 4 - 7 times, your smartwatch 40 - 60 times, and your tablet roughly twice.

Macbook case with pockets One of the many benefits of a Macbook is that it transforms your space into an office, creative hub or library. With its raw and powerful processing power and fast speeds, you can work on any project on the bus, in the park or wherever you are, just like you can at your desk. But when you take your laptop out into the world, you also expose it to a new level of risk and potential accidents, both those that come with accidents and wear and tear, but also those that come with exposure to new elements. Another thing that comes with taking your Macbook out of the house and into the world is a lack of storage space for your physical belongings, whether it's pens you use to take notes at school, calendars where you write down all your important work dates, or business cards and flyers handed out at meetings and conferences. To solve these problems, we have a great product: a protective Macbook case with pockets. With one of these, you can keep everything you need in your everyday life in one place - along with your laptop. These products are great for those of us who want to keep everything organised while still making sure their Macbook stays safe. Here at Lux-Case, we've been in the iPad accessory business ever since the first one came out back in 2010. For more than a decade now, that means we've seen different products come and go, including all trends, styles and brands. During this time, we've seen and tested both the very best and the... well, the not so good. So instead of just sitting on all this knowledge, we decided to create an overview of the best iPad cases on the market based on things like materials, features and price. To complete this in-depth guide, and so you don't just have to take our word for it, you can also find the 3 best-selling iPad cases here at Lux-Case so you can see what our customers think too. Let's dive in. The best iPad cases in test Below you'll find a thorough guide to what we consider to be the best options on the market when it comes to iPad cases. You'll also find our rationale and explanations for each option and opinion. But if you just want a quick list, you can see it here: The best of the best If you want something that's protective, functional and on the cheaper side, we recommend these stylish cases with a foldable lid. Check out this case for iPad Pro 12.9. Most cost-effective If you want something cheap and easy to use that provides basic protection while improving the grip on your iPad, we recommend a simple silicone back case. Check out this case for iPad Pro 12.9. Robust and durable If you're looking for something a little more robust that can be used in both harsher climates and tough conditions, such as on a construction site, we recommend you invest in a reliable and durable case. Check out this case for iPad Pro 11. Full of functionality If you use your iPad for many different things (whether it's work, school or entertainment) and want to be able to lean it back, raise it up and place it on almost anything, we recommend a case that gives your iPad the functionality and usability of a screen. See this case for iPad 10.9. Best of the cheapest iPad cases There's nothing wrong with being conscious of your budget. In fact, there's a saying that the easiest money you'll ever make is the money you save. However, when it comes to protecting your iPad, this mindset is a double-edged sword. The iPad itself wasn't cheap, and it makes sense that you might want to invest even more money in it. That said, having a highly portable (and expensive) piece of technology with you all the time means you want to protect it, and as with most things, the cheaper the product, the cheaper the material. If you want to find the happy medium between price and protection, there are many good but cheaper options on the market - and the one we recommend most is a simple silicone case. These products attach to the back of the device and protect it from bumps and scratches, meaning minimal intervention and maximum ease of use. Silicone is durable and shock-absorbing, but it's also cheap to manufacture, which means products made from it are too. Advantages: Cheap, but still protective Lots of in-built functionality Disadvantages: Can be considered bulky Although cheap, it's still more expensive than other options See all our iPad Air 2 cases. iPad keyboard case With the way technology has evolved, more and more people today are looking at iPads as a suitable replacement for laptops. It's a logical line of thinking as both options provide roughly the same level of processing power, storage space and functionality, but the iPad has the advantage of being more portable and, depending on the model, cheaper than a laptop. But there is one specific area where a laptop has a clear advantage - and that is the keyboard. The touchscreen simply can't keep up in terms of typing speed or convenience, and it can be a real pain to hold - especially if you're typing for long periods of time. This is where cases with a built-in keyboard come in handy. The inside of the case's lid, which protects the screen when you're not using the tablet, is equipped with a smart keyboard so you can type as quickly and easily as on a laptop or desktop computer. Benefits: Combines both a keyboard and a case Turns your tablet into a laptop wherever you are Disadvantages: The extra functionality means a higher price tag Only solves one problem if you miss having a keyboard See all our iPad 10.2 2021 cases. iPad case that can be used as a laptop But if creating the feel of a laptop with a keyboard isn't enough, there are also iPad cases with built-in stands that allow you to either lean the tablet back at a more comfortable typing angle or elevate it above your desk. With either of these options, the feeling of using a laptop while using your iPad is almost one-to-one and may be the best option if you frequently use your tablet at school or work. Benefits: Gives you the whole laptop experience, not just the keyboard Incredibly functional and protective Cons: Can be considered bulky and heavy See all our iPad Pro 12.9 cases. iPad case for the construction site While they're great for entertainment and perfect for the kind of work you do at your desk, iPads (and all tablets, for that matter) also have the advantage of being portable and easy to take anywhere - including construction sites, especially in the construction industry. Construction sites and fragile technology don't always go hand in hand, which is why there is a separate market for iPad cases that are designed and engineered for more demanding use. Designed to meet the rugged and demanding needs of the workplace, these cases feature extra padding, raised corners and edges, and sometimes built-in screen protection. Some versions also come with shoulder straps and rotating holders on the back, making the tablet easier to carry, hold and display information on. Benefits: Robust and protective Added functionality and ease of use Disadvantages: The most bulky solution on the market Designed to fulfil a specific need that most people may not have See all our iPad Air 2019 cases. iPad case as a screen It's one thing to have a built-in keyboard or case that helps your iPad recreate the feeling of using a laptop, but what if you want to use your iPad as a screen and raise it up like your computer screen? There are solutions for that on the market too. Whether it's on your desk, living room table or kitchen table, being able to raise your iPad can mean less neck and eye strain and therefore make your experience more in line with your usage. For this purpose, we recommend a case with a stand on the back. A stand can both raise the iPad from the surface you've placed it on or help you lean it back at a more comfortable angle - whichever you prefer. Benefits: Allows you to raise and tilt the iPad More comfortable user experience Disadvantages: Can be considered bulky and heavy The lid means you don't have immediate access to the screen See all our iPad Pro 11 cases. iPad case for designers If you're a professional designer, an aspiring professional designer or just a creative person who likes to use their iPad for drawing and designing, there are a lot of options to enhance your user experience. Most importantly, most of them have a built-in place to store your Apple Pencil. The most important of these is a case with a folding lid, also known as a tri-fold case. The lid of these products can be folded into a stand, which means you can adjust the angle of your iPad to your preferred drawing position. There are also screen protectors that mimic the feeling of drawing on paper, giving a nice analogue feel in a decidedly digital medium. Benefits: Both multifunctional and protective Helps to provide a comfortable and analogue feel Disadvantages: Not appropriate if you want something simple On the more expensive side See all our Apple iPad 2018 cases. iPad Mini case You might notice that one of these is not like the other - namely that it's not dedicated to a specific product, but rather to a specific iPad model, namely the iPad Mini. This is for the simple reason that the iPad Mini stands out as the smallest in Apple's line of larger tablets with the regular iPad, iPad Air and iPad Pro. This is of course its most unique and important selling point, but it can also mean that it needs a little extra protection. For iPad Mini users, this means a crossroads of options - should you choose a minimalist case that fits the already minimal design but makes it less protective, or should you choose a larger case that protects more but makes the device bigger? The good news is that you don't have to choose because there are solutions on the market that are slim, easy to use and highly protective, giving you the best of both worlds. Why you should use a case Even with solid build quality, the Nord 4 can still be vulnerable to: Drops and impact damage Scratches on the screen or back Dust and wear around buttons and ports A well-chosen case helps prevent accidental damage, improves grip, and can even enhance how the phone feels in your hand. What to think about before buying Like with most things in life, making the right decision is crucial - but it’s often easier said than done. The stakes might be lower when buying a new phone case than when buying, say, a new house, but putting some thought into the decision before buying can save you some annoyance (and money) down the road. Here are the key factors to consider when choosing a case: Protection level Basic protection: Slim cases add minimal bulk while guarding against everyday scuffs and light drops. Enhanced protection: Rugged or shock-absorbing cases are great if you want strong defense against heavier impacts. Material types The material of a case affects both look and performance: Soft TPU / Silicone: Offers flexibility and grip, good for shock absorption. Hard polycarbonate: Rigid shell that resists scratches and distributes impact. Hybrid (soft + hard): Combines the best of both for balanced protection. Folio / Wallet style: Often includes card slots and a cover flap for screen protection. Fit & design Make sure any case you choose is specifically designed for the OnePlus Nord 4 so that: buttons remain easy to press, The camera and sensors are unobstructed, ports are accessible without removing the case. Popular case styles Below are common categories of cases — each suited to different needs and lifestyles: 1. Slim & minimal cases If you value lightweight protection that maintains the phone’s original profile, slim cases are ideal. They guard against scratches and minor bumps without adding bulk. Best for: Daily use, minimalists, people who don’t often drop their phone. 2. Rugged & heavy-duty cases For users who want maximum shock protection, rugged cases typically include thicker materials and reinforced corners. Great if you’re often outdoors or accident-prone. Best for: Outdoor activities, construction work, active lifestyles. 3. Clear & transparent cases These showcase your Nord 4’s design while still giving decent protection. They’re perfect if you want to keep the aesthetic but prevent scratches. Best for: Showing off the phone’s original look, everyday protection. 4. Wallet & folio cases Folio styles usually include a front cover and may offer card or cash storage. They often provide all-around protection and can keep the screen safe when closed. Best for: People who like combining phone and wallet, extra screen protection. 5. Stylish & textured cases Some cases focus on visual appeal and feel, using materials or patterns that stand out. These prioritize looks and grip while still offering base-level protection. Best for: Style-conscious users, those who prioritize texture and feel. Extra features you might want When browsing cases, look out for these handy extras: ✔ Raised edges - Helps protect the screen and camera from flat surfaces. ✔ Grip textures - Reduces the chance of slipping out of your hand. ✔ Wireless charging compatibility - Ensure the case doesn’t interfere with wireless charging. ✔ Kickstand features - Great for watching videos hands-free. ✔ Lanyard or ring mounts - Useful for secure carry or easier handling. Read moreThe complete guide to smartwatch screen protectors: types, installation & tips
Your smartwatch goes everywhere with you - to the gym, the office, and even to bed. But between metal weights, car keys, and door frames, that sleek touchscreen is constantly at risk of getting scratched or chipped. If you’ve ever wondered whether you really need a screen protector for your smartwatch, or which type works best for your model, this guide will walk you through everything you need to know - from protector types to application tips and maintenance. Whether you own a Garmin, Apple Watch, Fitbit, Samsung Galaxy Watch, Polar, Suunto, or Huawei, we’ve got you covered. Why screen protection matters Modern smartwatches are built to last - many use reinforced glass like Gorilla Glass, Ion-X, or even Sapphire Crystal. Still, none of these materials is completely scratch-proof. Every day use exposes your watch to hazards you might not even notice or consider: Gym equipment and barbells Zippers and metal jewelry Keys or coins in your pocket Accidental bumps on desks or walls Even the toughest displays, like the sapphire glass on high-end Garmin and Apple Watch models, can develop micro-scratches that dull the screen over time. A screen protector adds an invisible layer of defense - absorbing scratches and impacts before they reach the glass beneath. → For most smartwatch owners, a protector is an inexpensive way to avoid a costly repair or replacement. Do smartwatches really need screen protectors? The answer depends partly on your lifestyle and your watch model. When you should use one: You work out regularly or wear your watch outdoors. You use your smartwatch in manual labor or industrial environments. You own a model with Ion-X or Gorilla Glass (common on non-premium versions). You want to keep resale value high by preserving the original screen. When you might skip it: You have a titanium/sapphire-glass watch and rarely wear it during workouts. You use a rugged case that already protects the edges and glass. Still, for most people, adding a thin layer of protection is a smart precaution - especially considering how much time we spend wearing these devices. Types of smartwatch screen protectors Not all protectors are created equal. Here are the most common types, with pros and cons to help you choose what fits your needs. 1. Tempered glass protectors Tempered glass is the most popular option - and for good reason. It feels just like the watch’s original glass, offers strong impact protection, and resists scratches exceptionally well. Pros: Excellent clarity and durability Feels natural to touch Easy to clean Cons: Slightly thicker than films May not fully cover curved screens → Best for: Outdoor users, athletes, and anyone who wants maximum protection. 2. TPU film protectors TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane) protectors are flexible, ultra-thin films that conform closely to the screen - even if it’s curved. Pros: Edge-to-edge coverage Self-healing from small scratches Nearly invisible once applied Cons: Slightly less scratch-resistant Can take patience to install bubble-free → Best for: Those who want a discreet, flexible protector that doesn’t change how the screen feels. 3. Hydrogel protectors Hydrogel films are the latest generation of soft screen protectors, combining flexibility with better clarity and touch sensitivity. They also self-heal from scratches over time. Pros: Excellent touch response Self-healing surface Great fit for curved displays Cons: Slightly less durable against sharp impacts → Best for: Smartwatches with curved or edge-to-edge screens (e.g., Huawei Watch GT, Samsung Galaxy Watch). 4. Case-integrated protectors These combine a screen cover and protective case in one piece - perfect for high-impact environments or rugged outdoor use. Pros: All-around protection Easy to swap out Ideal for sports and manual work Cons: Adds bulk May reduce touchscreen sensitivity slightly → Best for: Outdoor enthusiasts, gym users, and anyone who is hard on their devices. How to choose the right protector for your smartwatch With so many options, the best protector depends on your watch model, how you use it, and your personal preferences. Before buying, consider: Shape of your watch screen: Flat vs. curved glass affects compatibility. Daily use: Are you mostly at a desk or in rugged environments? Ease of installation: Glass is simpler, but film fits tricky screens better. Thickness: If you use your watch for touch gestures or swipes, thinner films may feel smoother. Here’s a quick decision guide: Lifestyle Recommended protector Example models Gym & Sports TPU or Hydrogel Fitbit Charge, Polar Ignite, Huawei Band Outdoor / Hiking Tempered Glass Garmin Fenix, Suunto 9, Samsung Watch 5 Pro Everyday / Office Slim Film or Glass Apple Watch SE, Fitbit Versa Industrial / Rugged Case-Integrated Garmin Instinct, Grit X Pro → Tip: Always choose a protector made specifically for your model - even small shape differences (like the Apple Watch 8 vs 9) can affect fit. Step-by-step: how to apply a smartwatch screen protector Applying a protector can seem tricky, but it’s easy if you take your time and work in a clean space. Wash your hands. This prevents fingerprints or oil from getting trapped. Clean the screen. Use the included alcohol wipe or a lint-free microfiber cloth. Remove dust. Use the provided dust-removal sticker or a small piece of tape. Align carefully. Hold the protector by the edges and line it up with the display before letting it stick. Press from center outward. Smooth out bubbles with a soft cloth or the included scraper. Let it settle. Wait 10–15 minutes before touching or pressing on the screen. → If you get dust trapped underneath, gently lift the nearest corner using tape, remove the particle, and reapply. A quick installation done right gives you months, if not years, of clear protection. Maintenance & replacement tips A good screen protector can last six months to a year (sometimes more), depending on usage. Still, it’s a consumable accessory - it’s meant to take the damage so your watch doesn’t have to. Keep yours performing well by: Cleaning it weekly with a damp microfiber cloth. Avoiding harsh cleaners or alcohol wipes once applied. Replacing it if you notice deep scratches, bubbles, or peeling edges. If your protector gets damaged, remove it gently from one corner and clean the screen before applying a new one. Screen protection tips by brand type Different smartwatch brands use different display materials, shapes, and coatings - which means the right screen protector can vary quite a bit from one to another. Here’s how to choose the best fit for each major brand family. Mainstream fitness & everyday watches: Garmin, Fitbit & Apple Garmin and Fitbit watches tend to use Gorilla Glass or Ion-X glass, which are tough but not immune to scratches. If you’re active outdoors or at the gym, a tempered glass protector is a reliable choice for durability. Apple, on the other hand, uses both Ion-X (on standard models) and sapphire crystal (on Ultra or stainless models). Even sapphire can suffer fine scratches from sand or grit, so a thin glass protector keeps it looking flawless long-term. → Explore our Garmin, Fitbit, and Apple Watch screen protectors - each precisely cut for your model. Curved & high-tech displays: Samsung, Huawei & Xiaomi Brands like Samsung and Huawei often feature curved, edge-to-edge displays that look fantastic but are trickier to protect. TPU and hydrogel protectors are ideal for these - they flex to the contours of the glass and maintain full touch sensitivity. Xiaomi’s and Huawei’s newer fitness bands, with long, narrow screens, also benefit from self-healing film protectors that resist daily wear. → Find model-specific protection in our Samsung, Huawei, and Xiaomi screen protector collections. Adventure & performance brands: Suunto & Polar Polar and Suunto watches are built for performance - from mountain trails to triathlon training. Their tough, flat displays make them perfect for tempered glass or hybrid protectors, offering high clarity with strong impact resistance. → Check out our Polar and Suunto protectors - rugged, clear, and made for endurance. Lifestyle & fashion brands If your smartwatch is as much about style as it is about tracking, like models from Michael Kors, Fossil, or TicWatch, a slim, high-clarity glass protector preserves both look and feel. → Browse our Fossil and TicWatch collections to keep your display as sleek as your outfit. Common myths about screen protectors Let’s bust a few persistent myths: “They ruin touchscreen sensitivity.” High-quality protectors are designed to preserve touch accuracy - you won’t even notice it’s there. “They make the screen look dull.” Modern tempered glass and hydrogel protectors maintain full brightness and color clarity. “Only cheap smartwatches need them.” Even sapphire-coated displays can chip from impact or sand - prevention is always cheaper than repair. “They’re hard to apply.” With modern adhesive kits and dust-removal tools, installation takes under five minutes. Protect your investment Your smartwatch is more than just a timepiece - it’s a fitness tracker, health monitor, and personal assistant that you wear every day. A simple screen protector helps it stay flawless for years, through workouts, travel, and everyday life. Protecting your screen is one of the easiest, most affordable upgrades you can make. Explore our full collection of smartwatch screen protectors and find the perfect match for your device today.
